A Business Support Group is the most powerful tool that I’ve found for small business owners wanting to grow and succeed in their business. I believe it’s one of the best investments that you can make in yourself and in your business, and the return is far more than what you’ll put into it if you’re willing to commit to the process. If you are a business owner in the Seattle area and interested in growing your business, I’d like to invite you to join one of my business support groups, and work with me to make your business grow, prosper, and thrive.

What is This?

A Business Support Group is an expert-facilitated recurring group meeting in which members share their business problems and challenges, receive feedback, and offer their own insight and experience to other group members. It’s a collective braintrust for solving each other’s business problems, facilitating each other’s success, and providing support along the way.

Each group member will receive
access to:

» 3-hour in-person facilitated group meetings each month (located in Seattle)
» 60 minutes of 1-on-1 time with Barney each month
» Access to Barney via email
» A group of local peers invested in your success

Why should you Join?

The benefits of choosing to prioritize your business:

1. Dedicated time to work on your business

Most business owners go to work everyday and get very caught up in their daily tasks, routine, and to-do lists. It’s easy to become so immersed in the day-to-day that you lose sight of where you’re going. When this happens, you begin to feel frantic and overwhelmed. The antidote needed to break this cycle is simple: take some time out of your routine to work ON your business and not only IN your business. Every business needs planning and thought, goal setting and careful evaluation. This group gives you the chance to take a step back and look at your business from a higher level, to determine what needs to be done to solve your problems and reach your goals in a supported environment.

2. Support from a community of peers

Often one of the biggest problems of working for yourself is that you spend a lot of time talking to yourself. There’s a real danger in this because you only have one point of view- your own. To get a really good idea of what’s goin on and how you can succeed you need other perspectives, other sets of eyes and ears. This group gives you a community who knows you, gets to know your business, and provides perspective and insight into your challenges and goals. A business support group brings together a group of people who care about seeing each other succeed.

3. Structure and resources to accomplish you goals

A business support group also functions as a structure to hold each other accountable for getting things done in their businesses. Often we need structure to help us tackle our bigger problems and accomplish our largest goals. Letting yourself down is one thing, but knowing that you’re going to have to give your group an update on your progress can often be the motivation you need to keep moving forward. The group aspect also helps when you do get stuck, because they can then offer their own insight, advice, tips, and resources to help you continue moving.

Barney Cohen

I opened a small record store when I was 26, and over the next 30 years I built one of the largest wholesalers of prerecorded music in the world. Once my wholesale music business reached nearly one billion dollars in sales, I decided to take my company public. My company, Valley Media, had its initial public offering in April of 1999.

Since then, I've started a business consulting company where I share my common sense approach to starting, growing, and running businesses. I specialize in helping businesses kickstart and manage their growth so they can take their business to the next level.

I’ve run many Business Support Groups over the years, and I believe it is one of the most effective tools for helping small business owners to grow and accomplish their goals.
